Lots of Travels – Late August and Early September 09

Well, it has been a long while since I have updated.  I fully intended to get things up on the site, but I have been busy lately.  So, there are two galleries in the update.  The first one is a short trip down to Red Wing, Minnesota.  The plan was to hop in the little Cessna 172 and take a trip to Red Wing to go rock climbing for the afternoon, but after some weather delays we just ended up with a short hike.  It was still a great trip and a great opportunity to see things in a new way.

The next gallery has three things in it.  It starts with one photo of the great Minnesota get together (AKA the Minnesota State Fair.)  This is the first time that Peter has ever been the the fair, and he loved it.  I, not surprisingly, also had a good time at the fair like every time I go.   The next few photos are from the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, Minnesota.  If you are a fan of cool engines, steam engines, saw mills, tractor pulls, trains, or threshing, you would enjoy this place.  There is so much to see and do, the pictures that I took don’t even start to do it justice.  At the end of the post is one of the steam powered shovels in action at the “Giant Sandbox.”  The gallery finishes up with a three day trip to Washington DC.  I have never been there, so it was a good opportunity.  Nate’s friend Matt offered to put us up and show us around town while we were there.  For all those that want to see a lot of photos, you are out of luck this time.  When I go back next I will take more.  It was a relaxing trip where I got to spend time with friends, see great sights, and eat some wonderful food.  Enjoy!
