The Boundary Waters is a special place. \u00a0I haven’t taken a trip up there in five years and it was well overdue. \u00a0Though not as gung-ho as previous trips, this one provided some much needed rest and relaxation. \u00a0Now, some people may think that carrying a canoe and everything you brought through a wilderness area is a lot of work, but it is worth it. \u00a0Nick, Preston, Gene (Preston’s Dad) and I went up for a five night trip. \u00a0We had a Missing Link \u00a0Lake entry up the\u00a0Gunflint\u00a0Trail. \u00a0Since we had such a late start the first day we decided to stay on Missing Link Lake. \u00a0The next morning we packed it up and portaged to Tuscarora Lake. \u00a0Tuscarora is a larger lake, and with storms and stiff winds in the\u00a0forecast\u00a0we opted for a campsite on the south side of the lake in a well protected area. \u00a0Normally this campsite would be bug infested and wet, but because it was early September it was perfect. \u00a0We stayed at this campsite the remainder of the trip.<\/p>\n
When I mean rest and relaxation, I mean it. \u00a0Our days consisted of reading, napping, eating, conversation, fishing and cutting wood for the fire. \u00a0Simple right? \u00a0Reading was the thing that enjoyed the most about it. \u00a0It was quiet and free of\u00a0distractions, and when the sun came out it was even better. \u00a0We got our share of rain, wind and cold weather, but it was a great trip.<\/p>\n
When we had to head home, we packed all of out gear, returned the canoe to the camp and drove home. \u00a0All of us wanted to stay for a least a\u00a0couple\u00a0of more days, but the “real world” required us back. \u00a0Enjoy the photos. \u00a0Hope you plan a trip soon, you won’t regret it.<\/p>\n\n
